Noting completes a great gathering of love and joy like some mouth-watering nibbles and treats. So the next time you have a reason to celebrate, dare to go all out and have an exciting menu drawn up. Impress your guest and satisfy your ‘bread basket’.

The seafood appetizer
A great shrimp ceviche, served in martini glasses would look stunning. Most Docklands waterfront restaurants would have some version of this on their menu. This amazing mix is made of steamed shrimp tossed together with some cilantro, onion, cucumber, avocado, olive oil and a mix of hot sauce and ketchup with a dash of salt to taste. Can be prepared early and kept refrigerated. Serve cold.

The deep-sea main
Can your regular Shepard’s pie get any better? The answer is yes. Replace your minced beef or lamb with some delicious lobster. A treat so delicious, we think it cannot be outdone. Top it off with mashed potato, it will be much more filling and complement the soft meat as opposed to puff pastry. Serve in induvial dishes to avoid a fight!

The best egg appetizer
A classic ‘starter’ for many occasions. Be it at birthdays, anniversaries it is likely to be found. That does not make it any less special or loved. Most fancy engagement party venues do serve this dish up in style and with many twists. The crowd pleasing devilled eggs are whipped up with ease. Some mayonnaise together with salt, mustard, minced shallots, ground pepper and egg yolk is mashed together. This golden mixture is remoulded in to the egg white halves and garnished.

The tail that brings many tales
A robust dish of oxtail browned and slow cooked until tender in a bed of onions, cloves, thyme, ginger, coriander, some vinegar and a glass of coke. Toss in some potatoes half way through and let the gravy simmer. Serve over some rice and peas.

Sweet to finish with
To every great meal is an even greater dessert. Finish the lovely day off with some key lemon pie, strawberry cheesecake, pineapple upside down or some warm cherry pie. Some of these great bites are going to leave your guests wanting for more.
Have the restaurant or the caterers prepare for the number you are expecting, although it is best to have a little extra. No one complains about left overs as yummy as these. Enjoy your evening knowing well that your guest are very happy.
